Saint Restituta Crypt

As the excavations directed from 1951 to 1974 by rector Father Pietro Monti have proved, Saint Restituta crypt, that is the small basilica built in the 4th century, was made out a Roman construction.
Crypt entrance is from Saint Restituta small church. Inside the church there are the beautiful ruins of frescos of the Paleo-Christian basilica, on which there is a gem cross of the V century.
This crypt attests Christian communities were on the Island in the 2nd – 3rd century, like it is confirmed from the find of

fragments of pagan and Christian pottery and from traces of funeral banquet.
