As the excavations directed from
1951 to 1974 by rector Father Pietro Monti have proved, Saint
Restituta crypt, that is the small basilica built in the 4th
century, was made out a Roman construction.
Crypt entrance is from Saint Restituta small church. Inside the
church there are the beautiful ruins of frescos of the
Paleo-Christian basilica, on which there is a gem cross of the V
century.
This crypt attests Christian communities were on the Island in
the 2nd – 3rd century, like it is confirmed from the find of |
