'Ndrezzata Feast

" ‘ Ndrezzata" is an ancient popular Ischian dance. It is danced at Buonopane, an outlying ward of Barano, on the parvis of St. John Baptist Church.
There are eighteen/twenty people with "mazzarielli" and wooden swords, dressed with typical customs, that create history-legend rhythms. So this is a beautiful performance.
The origins of this dance are not very clear. Some people think that" 'ndrezzata" has ancient Greek origins.

Others instead think to the ancient Arcadian fishers dance: an expression of the

fight among sexes, an expression of fight between Faunas and Nymphs.
